Lackluster: The Intersectional Feminist Beauty Account You Should Follow

Lachrista Greco, founder of Guerrilla Feminism, recently took on a new beauty project called Lackluster. As you’d imagine, running a nonprofit takes a lot of time and energy. That’s why she created Lackluster–for those wanting to do something nice for themselves in terms of beauty, wellness, and health. (Activist burn-out is real, folx!)

Unlike so many beauty bloggers out there, Greco embraces radical self-love rather instead thinspo and body-shaming. Here’s what she had to say about it:

What’s your relationship with makeup?

I started wearing makeup when I was 13 years old, nothing too intense. Just drugstore mascara and those weird glitter rollerball things for eyes that were all the rage in the 90s. My mom was never into makeup. (She wore it, but never taught me how to use it.) So I learned on my own and from friends. Today, I’m nearly a VIB Rouge member at Sephora and spend countless hours watching makeup tutorials on YouTube.

Describe your new project, Lackluster.

I created Lackluster (with a tagline, “for people who wanna do stuff sometimes”) as a way to bring together people who might be interested in makeup or wellness or health, but only feel like doing a bit here and there.

What’s the inspiration and message behind Lackluster?

I find that a lot of beauty and wellness accounts on Instagram are overwhelming in that everything seems perfect, like going to the gym for exactly the same amount of time each day and documenting that or making “healthy” meals for literally every meal. I wanted Lackluster to be a place for myself and others who like makeup, wellness, health, but aren’t going to make it their full-time life.

Anything else you’d like Girl of Style readers to know?

Lackluster is still in its beginning stages, so please bear with me!
