7 Must-Have Spring Fashion Essentials

Spring is no longer a distant dream—it’s officially here and that can mean only one thing:

It’s time to start shopping for those warm weather clothes many of us love so much.

Spring fashion can feel like a new beginning. You can shed the layers of winter, experiment with color and pattern and approach what you wear in a fresh new way.

Based on trends being seen everywhere from the runway to top magazines we put together 7 of our must-have spring essentials to help you with your shopping:

  1. A Trench Coat: The trench coat certainly isn’t a new trend, but is instead a timeless piece you should always have in your wardrobe. Trenches are great for spring because they’re lightweight enough for the transitional temperatures of the season and they’re also good in case of a surprise April rain shower. A belted trench looks instantly chic, no matter what your outfit underneath may be.
  2. Skater-Style Dress: The look of a skater-style dress or skirt is perfect for spring because it’s fun, flirty and the length is great as the weather gets warmer. Choose one with a fitted upper portion to emphasize the fun flounce and volume of the skirt.
  3. White Heels: Is there anything more fabulous in spring and summer than white shoes? This season consider investing in a great pair of classic white pumps with a chic pointed toe. You can wear them with virtually everything.
  4. A Shirt Dress: Taking the time to pick the perfect shirt dress can lead to a big payoff because this is an item that’s wearable in so many situations. An adorable shirt dress can easily take you from the office to a night out, or even to a casual spring brunch with friends.
  5. The Sheer Sweater: Sure, sweater season may be officially over but that doesn’t mean you can’t look casually chic with a sheer sweater. Lightweight sweaters are perfect for the fluctuating weather of spring. If you want something a bit more sexy, rather than wearing a sheer sweater with a traditional camisole pair it instead with a bandeau bra.
  6. Skirt with a High Slit: This may be one of my favorite trends and I’m especially loving maxi skirts with very high leg slits. The reasons is because maxi skirts feel breezy and effortless, but having the slits there makes them sexier and more interesting. The double slit is also a great trend this spring, plus you get the added bonus of being able to show off your shoes. Knee-length pencil skirts with a leg slit are another great alternative to maxi skirts. Pair this style with a simple tank and you’re ready to go.
  7. Overalls: That’s right, it’s like you’ve gone back to grade school with this trend. Overalls of all types are everywhere this season, whether you like shortalls, full-length or cropped overalls. They’re casual, cute and fun so go ahead and find a pair you love this spring.
