Dressing Your Body in the Right Pair of Jeans

There’s nothing better than slipping into that perfect pair of jeans, but how do you know what’s right for your body type? The style options for jeans are practically limitless, so it may take a little research to know what’s going to best fit and flatter you.

Here are a few of the top tried and true tips to find those ideal jeans:

Muffin Top Mania

Many of us females aren’t in love with our midsection. For girls and women, the midsection can be a big problem area, and the part of our body we most want to keep hidden.

If you’re trying to minimize your muffin top, don’t go for super stretchy jeans. Instead, choose jeans with structure—otherwise you’re going to get a lot of unflattering cling.

Curvaceous

If you’re very curvy, or you have an hourglass figure, skinny jeans may not be your best bet.

Instead, choose jeans that are going to balance out your body. Trouser-style jeans, with a flared leg are a great way to provide balance throughout the body and give you a proportional appearance.

Trouser-style jeans are also great for a pear shape, because it keeps your lower body balanced.

Thicker Thighs

If you have larger legs and you want to make them appear slimmer, don’t opt for light wash jeans, or jeans with details on the thighs. These are just going to draw attention to your thighs and make them look larger.

For the appearance of slimmer legs, choose a dark wash jean. A flare leg is also a great option, since it’ll focus the eye away from the upper leg.

On the other side of the coin, if you have thin legs and you’d like to make them appear more voluminous, a lighter wash is a great option.

Another good way to make yourself look a little curvier is to choose jeans with details on the thighs, like whiskers or even zippers.

If You’re Petite…

You may think petite girls have it easy when it comes to selecting jeans, but this isn’t necessarily true. It’s important to still choose proportions that work for your body. Petite girls should go for jeans that have a slim or boot cut. Choosing a flare leg can make you look as if you’re swimming in your pants.

These are just a few of the basic cuts of jeans, but there’s also the rise to consider when making a purchasing decision.

A high-rise jean can be a great option for very different body types, because it can disguise a tummy, or accentuate a small waist. If you’re taller, or have a more petite figure, a low rise may be best, to give you the appearance of some curviness.

Ultimately, while there are guidelines you can follow when it comes to selecting the perfect pair of jeans, it all comes to down to wearing what makes you feel the best. If you love a pair of jeans, and feel great wearing them, that’s going to show through.

Have fun rocking your favorite pair of denim!
