Avoid These Beauty Myths

Women all over the world are always on the lookout for new ways that can help them change or improve their appearance. For many women this can involve a variety of exercise routines, changes to fitness levels, changes to their diet, their makeup and many other aspects all in the name of helping them to achieve a different level of beauty in their eyes. While there are some methods and products that are known to work quite well in these efforts, there are just as many myths that exist regarding beauty treatments that you should avoid. Here are just a few of the beauty myths you should be are of today.

  • Tanning Beds are Safer Than Outside Tanning – People have always assumed the tan that you get from a tanning bed is better for you than exposing yourself to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Doctors all over agree that the reverse is actually true. More young women today are developing melanoma, a form of skin cancer that can be quite deadly, as a result of using tanning beds regularly. Studies indicate that even just going for one visit in a tanning salon can increase your chances of getting melanoma, so you are better off avoiding this type of treatment.
  • Facial Exercises Make the Skin Taut – One of the latest fads involves the use of different facial exercises or even facial yoga as a way of helping to prevent wrinkles from occurring in the face. When you do any type of exercise, facial or not, it is going to work to tone up the muscles and make them stronger and tighter but it will not do this to your skin. If anything, the reverse is true with your face. If you perform repetitive facial exercises you will actually be breaking down the collagen with all of the muscle contractions, creating the chance for more wrinkles rather than preventing them.
  • Cutting Your Hair Makes it Grow Faster – This has long been a myth that women that get their hair cut short have it grown in thicker and faster than before. The reality is that your hair follicles have no idea when your hair is cut because your hair is made up of dead tissue. It might look like your hair is growing faster because it is growing from a shorter length. It is all proportional to the length of your hair. If you really want your hair to grow in thicker and faster, instead of cutting it take care of it with the proper nutrients, diet and conditioners.

Beauty myths are ideas that come and go all of the time in the world of health, beauty and fashion.
