Bleecker Street’s Hidden Vegan Teasure

Earlier this month, I visited New York City and had the pleasure of dining at vegan-only restaurants. This story is the second of a three-part series dedicated to my foodie treks.

After scavenging for parking around the Washington Square Park area, my friend and I finally gave up finding a metered parking spot and settled on a pay-per-hour garage. With the help of Yelp, we quickly found by CHOLE., a 100% vegan, all natural, plant-based restaurant.

The lunch hour worked against our advantage. The inside dining area was so packed, that there wasn’t a single seat open. Luckily, our take-out orders were ready in a timely fashion.

I ordered Mac & Cheese, made with sweet-potato cashew cheese sauce, shiitake bacon, and almond Parmesan cheese, in addition to a Kombucha drink. My friend ordered Avocado Pesto Pasta, made with avocado-cashew pesto, grape tomatoes, almond Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil.

I recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in grabbing some excellent vegan comfort. It’s definitely a winner! However, dodge the lines and avoid visiting during popular dinner and lunch hours.
